EJC:adg <br /> 8/10/78 <br />Rev. 8/23/78 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 78-103 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA OPPOSING USE OF STRAY <br />ANIMALS FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana <br />has been informed that unclaimed stray animals from the City <br />of Santa Aha are often sold for research purposes by the <br />Orange County Animal Shelter; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this <br />of using living animals <br />methods are available. <br /> <br />Council is opposed to the practice <br />for research where alternative <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Orange County Animal Shelter be <br />discouraged from selling or giving away unclaimed stray <br />animals from the City of Santa Ana to any persons or organiza- <br />tions desiring such animals for research purposes. <br /> <br /> 2. That each employee of the City, when turning <br />over animals to the County during the performance of their <br />duties as City employees, shall direct the County not to use <br />such animals for research purposes. <br /> <br /> ADOPTED this 21st day of Au§ust , 1978, <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br /> AYES: COUNCILMEN: Brandt, Ward, 0rtiz, Yamamoto, <br /> Evans, Garthe <br /> NOES: COUNCILMEN: None <br /> <br />ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: Bricken <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> MAYOR <br />APPROVED AS TO FO~{: <br /> <br />KEITH L.
