RESOLUTION NO. 78-129 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />REQUESTING THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION TO <br />INCLUDE WITHIN THE ORANGE COUNTY FEDERAL AID URBAN PROGRAM <br />THE INSTALLATION OF A COMPUTERIZED TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEM <br />WITHIN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana desires to install a computerized <br />traffic signal system within its corporate limits; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, development of demand responsive traffic signal systems <br />is important to transportation planning in the County of Orange and of general <br />County interest; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1978 provides Federal funds <br />for expenditure on the Federal-Aid Urban (FAU) System of Highways and non-highway <br />public mass transit projects; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the FAU System consists of certain eligible State Highways, <br />County roads and city streets located within urban and urbanized areas of the <br />State; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation intends that <br />funds be allocated to the urbanized and urban areas on the basis of proportional <br />population in conformance with the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1978; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the California Department of Transportation has specified <br />that each urban and urbanized area must develop an acceptable process for <br />reviewing projects and recommending priorities and that the appropriate <br />regional planning agency (SCAG) must concur with the process; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a FAU process has been approved for the County of Orange, in <br />accordance with the above requirements, which will establish a FAU Program; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA: <br /> <br /> 1. That the City of Santa Ana hereby requests that the installation <br />within the corporate limits of the City of Santa Ana of a computerized traffic <br />signal system be included in the Orange County FAU Program, said system to be <br />in accordance with the attached preliminary project statement; <br /> <br /> 2. That, by this Resolution, the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana declare that said City will comply with the basic policies and procedures <br />of the Orange County FAU Program, and its share of the cost of said improvements, <br />which is presently estimated to be $251,000, will be available for fiscal year <br />1979-80. <br /> <br /> ADOPTED this 2nd <br />following vote: <br /> <br /> AYES, COUNCILMEN: <br /> NOES, COUNCILMEN: <br /> ABSENT, COUNCILMEN: <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />.day of October , 1978 by the <br /> <br />Ward~ Yamamoto, Bricken, Ortiz, <br />Evans, Brandt <br />None <br />Garthe~~ <br /> MAYOR <br /> <br />ACTING I~Lt;~[~)~ OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br />Kl~)Tl~ L, GOW, <br /> <br /> <br />
