RESOLUTION NO. 79-130 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SANTA ANA CITY COUNCIL <br />TO SUPPORT ASSEMBLY BILL 1721 AND TO URGE <br />ALL CITIES OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO <br />SUPPORT THIS LEGISLATION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, State Assemblyman Paul Bannai has introduced AB <br />1721 which amends Section 20496 of the Government Code relating to <br />public employees retirement; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the existing Public Employees Retirement Law <br />authorizes contracting agencies to make optional benefits applicable <br />to their employees on a classification basis; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this legislation would, if passed, authorize <br />contracting agencies to make such benefits applicable on the basis <br />of employee organization representation and time of employment; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Santa Ana to <br />retain flexibility in determining the level of employee benefits <br />provided new hires; <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Ana: <br /> <br /> 1. That it does support and strongly urge all cities of <br />the County of Orange to support AB 1721. <br /> <br /> 2.
