DMF/fm <br />8/15/79 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 79-142 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING THE PROPOSAL <br />FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW INTERCITY COMMUTER <br />STATION AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC WORKS TO APPLY FOR $1,688,750 IN <br />FUNDS FOR SAID CONSTRUCTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana <br />has identified improvements to the Amtrak passenger facility <br />as a top transportation priority with the City of Santa Ana; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has formulated <br />a proposal for a new Santa Ana InterCity Commuter Station to <br />replace the existing 40-year old Amtrak passenger depot; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said proposal has been endorsed by the <br />Santa Ana Transportation Advisory Committee; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funds have been allocated by the legislature <br />of the State of California for improvement of transportation <br />passenger facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said funds will be allocated according to <br />Chapter 4.6, Division 3 of the California Streets and <br />Highways Code, Section 2170 et, seq. ("said law"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana <br />desires to approve the submission of an application to fund <br />said proposal for a new Santa Aha InterCity Commuter Station <br />in accordance with said law. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. The proposal by the Director of Public Works <br />of the City of Santa Ana for a Santa Ana InterCity Commuter <br />Station to replace the existing Amtrak passenger depot is <br />hereby approved. <br /> <br /> 2. The Director of Public Works is authorized <br />and directed to make application to the California Department <br />of Transportation for $1,688,750 in funds for construction <br />of a new InterCity Commuter Station in accordance with <br />Section 2170 et seq. of the California Streets and Highways <br />Code. <br /> <br /> 3.
