at a rate of set five (5) salary rate ranges (approximately 2.5%) above his or her then <br />current base monthly salary step. <br /> <br />o Maintenance Worker II (assigned to the tree crew) <br /> <br />ARTICLE VI <br /> <br />6.0 OVERTIME <br /> <br />6.1 <br /> <br />General Policy for Overtime Work. When it shall be determined to be in the public interest <br />for employees to perform overtime work, or in an emergency situation, the City Manager, <br />the Department Head, or a duly authorized representative of the City Manager or the <br />Department Head, may require an employee to perform overtime work. <br /> <br />6.2 Definition. Overtime work is defined as: <br /> <br />That authorized or required time worked in excess of eight (8) hours per day and/or <br />40 hours per week. A workweek is a fixed and regularly recurring period of 168 <br />consecutive hours - 7 consecutive 24-hour periods - as designated by the appointing <br />authority. An employee's work schedule within the workweek shall not be changed <br />to avoid payment of overtime; provided, however, nothing shall abridge <br />management's right to establish and change work schedules and assignments in <br />accordance with the rights of management contained in Article XX, infra. <br /> <br />Work on any regularly scheduled non-work day ofwhichthere shall be two (2) per <br />week, if work on any regularly scheduled non-work day is worked at management's <br />direction. <br /> <br />6.3 <br /> <br />Computation of Forty (40) Hour Workweek. In computing the forty (40) hour workweek, <br />the following type of work hours shall be included in the computation: actual work time, <br />jury/witness leave, and sick leave. If holiday leave or bereavement leave are subsequently <br />negotiated, said leave(s) would also be included in the computation. Any combination of <br />these work hours in excess of eight (8) hours per day or forty (40) hours per week shall <br />entitle the employee to overtime compensation. <br /> <br />However, paid time offfor vacation leave, compensatory time off, Union President's Leave <br />and Union Business Leave shall not be credited towards the forty (40) hour workweek, unless <br />the employee is required to work by management. <br /> <br />6.4 Compensation for Overtime. <br /> <br />The preferable method by which overtime shall be compensated is by monetary <br />payment, at one and one-half (I ½) times the employee's regular rate of pay, subject <br /> <br />21 <br /> <br /> <br />
