KLG:ar <br />12/3/79 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 79-224 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SANTA ANA CALLING UPON THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY <br /> TO FLY AND DISPLAY THE NATIONAL FLAG AND URGING <br />ALL CHURCHES AND SYNAGOGUES IN THE CITY TO RING THEIR <br />BELLS FOR TWO MINUTES AT NOON OF EACH DAY UNTIL THE <br />AMERICAN HOSTAGES HELD IN IRAN ARE RELEASED <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the nation of Iran, in violation of <br />international law and the historically established practices <br />of diplomacy, held, for a period of many weeks, and yet <br />continues to hold, as hostages American citizens assigned to <br />the Embassy in Teheran; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council supports the efforts of the <br />federal government to free said hostages, and desires to <br />urge the residents of the city to display their support for <br />said hostages and our nation in this time of international <br />crisis; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />oF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: <br /> <br /> 1. That this Council does hereby urge all res- <br />idents of the city to fly and display the flag of the United <br />States on their premises until the danger to said hostages <br />has ceased and they have been returned to the jurisdiction <br />of this nation. <br /> <br /> 2.
