<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the bid of Smith-

<br />Booth-Usher Company, in the total amount of $3,709.00, was accepted, and all other
<br />
<br />bids were rejected.

<br />On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the low bid of
<br />
<br />Dearth Machi~eryCompany, in the total amount of $8,941.60, was accepted, and all
<br />
<br />other bids were rejected.

<br />This being the date set for the continued hearing regarding the annexation of pro-
<br />
<br />perty consisting of approximately 2,000 acres, located south of Edinger Street,
<br />
<br />east of Harbor Boulevard, west of Newport Avenue and Main Street, and north of
<br />
<br />Baker Street, the Mayor asked the Clerk if she had received any additional protests
<br />
<br />and she stated there were none and read her Certificate, statim~ the total assessed
<br />
<br />value of the area is $1,563,820.00; the total assessed value of all properties pro-
<br />
<br />testing is $60,290.00, and said protests represent 3.86%, which is less than 50%,
<br />
<br />of the value of said territory protesting against an election on the question of
<br />
<br />annexation. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the
<br />
<br />Certificate was received and filed. The Mayor declared the hearing closed. The
<br />
<br />Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br />
<br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the following Resolution entitled:
<br />
<br />"Resolution No. 60-16 calling a Special Municipal Election to be held on
<br />the 5th day of April, 1960, to submit to the electors in that terri-
<br />tory designated 'South Santa Ana Annex No. 2,' the question of annex-
<br />ation of said territory to the City of Santa Ana, California, and
<br />ordering a corrected description of map of said territory, to be
<br />submitted to the Orange County Boundary Commission, to delete all
<br />territory West of Bristol Street, which is South of Paularino
<br /> Ave~e"
