Council Chamber Santa Ana City Hall October 3, 1960 7:30 P.~- City Council met in regular session. Meeting called to or~er by the Mayor. Present: Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard, Stanley C. Gould~ Jr. Bob Brewer, A. A. Hall i Absent: Councilmen Dale H. Heinly The Pledge of Allegiance w~s given. Invocation was given by Reverend Carl E. Berger, First United Presbyterian Church. Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes of September 19, 1960, reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved on motio~ of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried. Check $400.00 3,712.80 985.92 " " $2,349-36 3,294.72 892.32 " " $420.00 On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Brewer and carried, the lowest and best bid of The American Rubber Mfg. Co. was accepted for Items 1 and 2, in the total Hearing "Seventeenth and Wright N.E.No.2 Annex" amount of $3,792.00, all other bids were rejected, and four checks ordered returned This being the date set for hearing on the anuexation of property consisting of approximately 110.415 acres and lOcated between Seventeanth Street and Santa Clara Avenue, extending from Wright Street on the west to Tustin Avenue on the east, designated "Seventeenth and Wright N.E. No. 2 Annex." On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the Affidavits of Publicatien were received: and filed. The Clerk stated written protests were received from Annie M., Ernie A. !, and Robert F. Bushheim, Mrs. Charles H. Meier, Carl Jo Klatt and Royal J. V. Muelle~, protesting the annexation of their property to the City of Santa Aha. On motion of Colulei3m~n Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the protests were received and filed. The Director of Public Works orally stated that the area has a total assesse value of land and improvements totalling $141,550.00; the assessed value of the lan~ represented by the protestants w~s found to be $96,200.O0, and from these figures 67.96% of the property owners have protested against the annexation. It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, that the City Council finds there is more than a majority protest in this annexation and further proceedings shal~ not be taken.
