REL:adg <br />5/25/83 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 83-56 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA RECOGNIZING THE SOUTHERN <br />CALIFORNIA TRANSPORTATION ACTION COMMITTEE'S <br />EFFORTS TO SOLVE TRANSPORTATION PROBLEMS IN <br />THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGION <br />WHEREAS, the Southern California Transportation <br />Action Committee, a non-profit organization dedicated to <br />improving transportation in the six county Southern <br />California area, is comprised of members and associates <br />which include air, water, rail and highway users, chambers <br />of commerce, organized labor groups, environmental and civic <br />groups, and local government agencies' individuals; and <br />WHEREAS, the Southern California Transportation <br />Action Committee's primary goal is to build public awareness <br />of and support for the important transportation needs of <br />this region; and <br />WHEREAS, the Southern California Transportation <br />Action Committee's accomplishments and activities have <br />included: <br />1. Development and promoting the Freeway Transit <br />(FET) concept to regional transportation decision makers and <br />community leaders; <br />2. Taking strong public stands supporting the <br />completion of important highway projects including building <br />the Century Freeway, widening the Ventura Freeway, and <br />completing the Long Beach Freeway; <br />3. Organizing quarterly transportation issues forums; <br />4. Reporting in Update, Southern California <br />Transportation Action Committee's monthly newsletter, on <br />significant transportation issues; and <br />WHEREAS, the Southern California Transportation <br />Action Committee's 1983 goals include: <br />1. Accelerate completion of priority highway <br />projects; <br />2. Build public support for "bus -on -freeway" transit; <br />
