RESOLUTION NO. 84-1 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING THE <br />TRANSPORTATION INVESTMENT PLAN AND <br />PLACEMENT ON THE JUNE 5, 1984 BALLOT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County's transportation system <br />has deteriorated in recent years, creating traffic problems, <br />lengthening the time it takes for routine trips, and <br />increasing traffic congestion; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, these increasing difficulties threaten <br />Orange County's quality of life; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, maintaining and improving our aging <br />transportation system is essential to preserving our <br />standard of living and to developing an environment where <br />business, -industry, and commerce can grow and prosper; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Commission <br />has prepared a transportation investment plan which addresses, <br />in a balanced and reasonable fashion, the many transportation <br />needs and deficiencies of Orange County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Commission <br />is requesting the Santa Ana City Council to join with the <br />County of Orange and other Orange County cities to authorize <br />the placement of the Transportation Investment Plan on <br />the June 5, 1984 ballot; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Santa Ana City Council recognizes <br />that it will be the decision of the voters to determine <br />if they wish to approve a one percent sales tax increase <br />to finance the projects and plans outlined in the Trans- <br />portation Investment Plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
