REL:adg <br />3/19/84 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 84-40 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA SUPPORTING THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />SPECIAL DISTRICT TASK FORCE PROPOSAL TO RE- <br />ORGANIZE CERTAIN SPECIAL DISTRICTS IN ORANGE <br />COUNTY AND REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS <br />TO INITIATE REORGANIZATION PROCEEDINGS FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF DETACHING CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY <br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA FROM THE GARDEN GROVE <br />SANITARY DISTRICT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Special District Task Force <br />in its January 17, 1984 report to the Board of Supervisors iden- <br />tified certain inefficiencies resulting from multiple govern- <br />mental agencies providing similar municipal-type services within <br />the corporate limits of a city; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said report endorsed the full-service munic- <br />ipality concept and recommended that the cities assume provision <br />of certain services provided by Garden Grove Sanitary District; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Santa Ana City Council concurs with the <br />Task Force finding that multiple governmental agencies perform- <br />ing similar public works functions within the corporate boundaries <br />of the City of Santa Ana contribute to the complexity of local <br />government and may hinder the ability of city residents to readily <br />identify and contact the agency responsible for providing service; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Santa Ana City Council believes that <br />residents of the City of Santa Ana would benefit from a full- <br />service municipal concept and supports the proposal of the Orange <br />County Special District Task Force that the City assume the provi- <br />sion of sewer maintenance services from Garden Grove Sanitary <br />District within the corporate limits of the City; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Ana does hereby: <br /> <br /> <br />
