EJC :k-2 <br />05/28/86 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 86-~8 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA ESTABLISHING A JOINT STAFF <br />COMMITTEE WITH THE GARDEN GROVE UNIFIED SCHOOL <br />DISTRICT. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Garden Grove Unified School District ("GGUSD") <br />is responsible for operating schools within a portion of the <br />jurisdictional boundaries of the City of Santa Ana ("City"); <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, for planning purposes, GGUSD needs to be aware of <br />City land use planning and development authorizations in order <br />to better plan allocation of GGUSD resources; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, City recognizes that quality education is a major <br />element of urban life and preservation of neighborhoods; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, both GGUSD and City desire that a committee be <br />established to periodically meet and confer to exchange <br />information and to formulate strategies to achieve mutual goals; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA: <br /> <br /> 1. The City Manager is hereby directed to appoint <br />appropriate personnel to a committee composed of City and GGUSD <br />staff. <br /> <br /> 2. The committee shall provide communication regarding <br />housing developments and other developments in the City of <br />Santa Ana that may affect GGUSD's allocation of resources. <br /> <br /> 3. The committee shall provide for mutual studies of <br />student population within the congruent boundaries of GGUSD and <br />the City, and determine impacts on GGUSD of City land use <br />decisions and project approvals. <br /> <br /> 4. The committee shall review present and potential <br />resources which may be allocable to facilities serving the <br />congruent boundaries mentioned above. <br /> <br /> 5. The committee shall determine appropriate recommendations <br />to the governing body of the City and GGUSD regarding possible <br />alternatives for short-term and long-term impacts of new <br />development, whether public or private, on GGUSD resources, and <br /> <br /> <br />
