RESOLUTION NO. 86-88 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO <br />THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE REQUESTING <br />DESIGNATION AS A MINORITY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AGENCY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is eligible to apply to the <br />United States Department of Commerce for designation as a Minority <br />Business Development Agency; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the advantages to be received from receiving <br />designation and official operating authority as a Minority Business <br />Development Agency will enhance economic development in the City, <br />including the development of new jobs and an expanded tax base <br />through private capital investment; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Santa Ana to receive <br />designation as a Minority Business Development Agency to provide <br />management and business development assistance to minority-owned <br />small business ventures; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to apply to the <br />United States Department of Commerce on behalf of the City of Santa <br />Ana, California for designation and official operating authority as <br />a Minority Business Development Agency. <br /> <br /> 2.
