RESOLUTION NO. 85-72 <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE PASSAGE <br /> <br /> OF ASS~BLY BILL 1868 <br /> <br /> (AIR RESOURCES BOARD MEMBERSHIP) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana is located in the South Coast Air <br />Quality Management District (SCAQ~D) and concerned about the quality of our air; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the SCA~MD is charged with the responsibility for solving <br />what is generally acknowledged to be a very severe air pollution problem that <br />will require a great effort before all ambient air quality standards are <br />attained throughout the regions of the District; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the SCR-32 (Montoya) study report in 1980 recommended that <br />the SCA~MD and Bay Area AQMD each be given permanent seats on the Air ~sources <br />Board; and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, the SCACMD under current law has to share an ARB seat on a <br />rotating basis; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Air Resources Board has stated that since the SCAO~D is <br />the largest, most complex, multi-county district in the state with a <br />correspondingly larger air pollution problem than any other district in <br />California, it is appropriate that the SCAOV~ have a permanent ARB seat; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, to provide for a permanent seat on the ARB, the SC~MD <br />requested Assembly Member Charles M. Calderon to introduce Assembly bill 1868; <br /> <br /> <br />
