BUSINESS CALENDAR <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT OF AD HOC BOARD MEMBERSHIP REVIEW COMMITTEE <br /> <br />Motion by Reyna, seconded by Cong to appoint Directors Garza, Magdalena, Sanchez- <br />Valentine, Zaragoza and Reyna to an Ad Hoc Board Membership Review Committee was <br />adopted by the following vote: Ayes (14); Noes (0); Absent: Burrier-Lund, Cibrian, <br />Davis, Dietz, Hernandez, Leaman, Price, and Ream (8)) <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />YOUTH DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE REPORT <br /> <br />Victoria Zaragoza & Priscilla Monserrate-Sanders updated board members on the <br />activities of the Youth Development Committee. Director Zaragoza reported that letters <br />of Intent with summaries have been received by the committee for third year funding and <br />that a question and answer meeting for interested applicants has been scheduled for <br />Tuesday, March 6, 2001. <br /> <br />ARTS AND CULTURE SUB-COMMITTEE REPORT <br /> <br />Cleve Williams, Executive Director and Jim Gilliam representing the Parks, Recreation <br />and Community Services Agency discussed recent activities of the Arts and Culture sub- <br />committee and Mr. Gilliam introduced student participants in the After School Arts <br />program who performed three musical numbers for the board and members of the public. <br />Many of the performers attend Davis Elementary School in Santa Ana. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />APPLICANTS CONFERENCE & COMMUNITY CAPACITY BUILDING <br /> <br />Shawna Lahey reported that one hundred and eighty five individuals attended a <br />conference for applicants for third year funding. Ms Lahey also reported that a <br />community capacity building program class on grant writing had been completed and that <br />attendees requested additional classes. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Chairperson Yanez presented Dr. Mijares with a plaque from the Empowerment Zone Board in <br />appreciation of his contributions and guidance as the first Chair of the Empowerment Board. <br /> <br />SAEC MINUTES 6 FEBRUARY 28, 2001 <br /> <br /> <br />
