6/11/87 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 87- ~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA INITIATING <br />PROCEEDINGS FOR THE FORMATION OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA LANDSCAPING <br />AND LIGHTING MAINTENANCE BENEFIT <br />DISTRICT PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS <br />OF THE LANDSCAPING AND LIGHTING ACT <br />OF 1972 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in order to continue to provide for the <br />expenses of installing, constructing, maintaining and servicing <br />lighting along streets and other public places through the City, <br />and <br /> WHEREAS, in order to continue to provide for the <br />expenses of installing, constructing, maintaining and servicing <br />landscaping along streets and other places throughout the <br />City, it is necessary to form a landscaping and lighting <br />maintenance benefit district encompassing the entire City <br />pursuant to the Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972. <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana hereby initiates proceedings for and proposes the formation <br />of the City of Santa Ana Landscaping and Lighting Benefit <br />District for the installation, construction, maintenance and <br />servicing of all public street lighting and landscaping along <br />the streets and public places within the City, and to levy <br />and collect special assessments to pay the costs and incidental <br />expenses thereof, all pursuant to the provisions of the <br />Landscaping and Lighting Act of 1972 (Streets and Highways <br />Code Section 22500 et seq.). <br /> <br /> SECTION 2. The proposed District would encompass <br />the entire City and be coterminous with the present boundaries <br />of the City, excepting from the assessment of said costs and <br />expenses the area of all public courts, public alleys, all <br />public streets, easements and rights-of-way, all public parks, <br />green belts and parkways and all other public property used <br />for public purposes, but would include all railroad, gas or <br />electric utility right-of-way or electric line right-of-way. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3. The proposed District will be desig- <br />nated the "City of Santa Ana Landscaping and Lighting Main- <br />tenance Benefit District." <br /> <br /> <br />
