Built and dedicated in 1887, the original church was <br />destroyed in a fire in 1896. In.subsequent years numerous <br />buildings served as the church building. The church, however, <br />has always been located in the area of Minter, Lacy and stafford <br />(the.latter is now Civic Center Dr.) Streets. <br /> <br />The present church structure was constructed in 1947; the <br />first Mass was celebrated on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, <br />1947. Architect Harold Gimeno chose an English Gothic style <br />for the building with the intent of creating an original <br />and unique church, unmatched in the area. Even to this day <br />Saint Joseph's remains one of the only, if not only, true <br />gothic archetecture building in the County. <br /> <br />Exhibit A <br /> <br /> <br />
