RESOLUTION NO. 88-14 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA TO SUPPORT THE 1988 SCHOOL BOND <br />ISSUE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Governor Deukmejian has included, within his <br />budget for the upcoming fiscal year, an amount of 41.6 billion <br />for school construction programs; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, AB 48 (O'Connell) and SB 22 (Bergeson) have been <br />proposed and are now under consideration by both Houses; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this proposed legislation provides two issues, <br />each for $800 million; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the two proposed pieces of legislation are <br />equivalent to that proposed by the Governor, thus indicating a <br />potential agreement by both the executive and legislative <br />branch regarding a level of funding for the state school <br />construction program within California, which can be taken to <br />the electorate in 1988; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, locally, the Santa Ana Unified School District has <br />nearly 50 projects under various aspects of the State School <br />Building Program, including twenty for new growth and seventeen <br />for modernization; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there is continuing need for additional facilities <br />within the Santa Ana community to accommodate projected growth <br />over the next ten years. <br /> <br /> <br />
