Heninger House'is significant to the City of Santa Rna <br />because: <br />(a) It is associated with the broad patterns of'Santa Ana development <br />and played an important.part in the settlement period of.~he Heninger <br />Park Historic District by encouraging other prominent Santa ~a citizens <br />to Build fine homes in the neighborhood. 'It makes an arbhitectural <br />statement about the 191.0-1920 era in Heninger Park. <br />(b) Martin R. Heninger, whose name figures prominently in Santa.Ana <br />history as thel developer of the large area between First S~reet and <br />McFadden and Sycamore and Flower, buil% the hous~ ~nd lived there for <br />five years. <br />(c) It embodies the distinctive characteris%ics of the fine Colonial <br />Revival/Transitional architecture, possesses high artistic value, and <br />represents the work of a master builder, ~artin R. Heninger. Built by <br />Martin R. Heninger in 1911, this was the "dream home" of he and his wife, <br />Ma~y. The subdivision in which it is located, as are several others <br />south of First Street, is titled Henin~er's Second Addition. The --- <br />Heningers made a large impact upon the development of Santa Aha, and their <br />home is one of the finest examples of Colonial Revival/Transitional <br />architecture in the City~ <br /> <br />8 of 15 <br /> <br /> <br />
