McFADDEN AND HATHAWAY TRAFFIC SIGNAL TIME/FUND <br /> REQUEST <br /> <br />Motion: <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Engineer George Alvarez explained that, since September <br />of 2001, Public Works staff has been working with the County of Orange <br />and Santa Ana Unified School District to reach a consensus on the design <br />for ingress and egress on County property. After several months of <br />negotiation, the County, District and City have agreed to implement the <br />plan now presented to the Empowerment Zone. <br /> <br />Board discussion ensued. Members questioned why the increased costs <br />were not shared by the three entities involved, and asked why the <br />Empowerment Zone was asked to incur the total increased cost of the <br />project. Director Haynes raised concern that the project was not directly <br />related to economic development. Director Zaragoza emphasized the <br />importance of this project to the community and the safety of children. <br /> <br />Approve a time extension through February 2003 and additional fund <br />request in the amount of $82,100.00 for the McFadden and Hathaway <br />traffic signal. <br /> <br />MOTION: Cibrian SECOND: Zaragoza <br /> <br />SAEC MINUTES 3 APRIL 24, 2002 <br /> <br /> <br />
