REL:mb(24) 7/20/88 RESOLUTION NO. 88-58 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ORANGE COUNTY TO CONSOLI- DATE A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 1988. WHEREAS, a general election of the City of Santa Ana will be held on November 8, 1988, for the purpose of electing the mayor and council members from wards 1, 3, and 5, and for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of the City a proposed amendment to the City Charter; and WHEREAS, there will be a statewide general election held on November 8, 1988; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that said general election of the City of Santa Ana be consolidated with the statewide general election to be held on the same date and that within the City of Santa Ana the precincts, polling places and election officers be the same, and that the Board of Super- visors of the County of Orange canvass the returns of the special municipal election, in all respects as if there were only one election; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: SECTION 1: That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23302 of the Elections Code of the State of California, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby re- quested to consent to and order the consolidation with the general election of November 8, 1988, of a general election of the City of Santa Ana to be held upon the same date for the purpose of electing the mayor and council members from wards 1, 3, and 5, and for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of the City certain proposals to amend the City Charter, which proposals shall appear on the ballot as follows: ORGANIZATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL. Shall sections 400, 402, 405, and 406 of the Charter be amended to clarify the meaning of certain provisions concerning the mayor and mayor pro tem. SECTION 2: Said Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of said special municipal election pur- suant to Section 23306 of the Elections Code of the State of California.
