305 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 90-082 <br /> <br />DMF/meg-1 <br />9/10/90 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 84-99 TO <br />INCREASE THE NUMBER OF HUMAN RELATIONS <br />COMMISSIONERS TO NINE COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana adopted <br />Resolution No. 84-99 ("said Resolution") on August 20, 1984 <br />reestablishing a Human Relations Commission of the City of Santa <br />Ana ("Commission"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said Resolution sets forth the responsibilities of <br />the Commission in sections 1 through 4 thereof; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 5a of said Resolution provides for the <br />Commission to be comprised of seven (7) members to be as nearly <br />as possible representative of the various and diverse religious, <br />racial, cultural and age groups within the City of Santa Ana; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to increase the number <br />of members comprising the Commission from seven (7) to nine (9), <br />and to have the two additional members be appointed by the senior <br />centers of the City of Santa Ana (hereinafter referred to as <br />"Senior Commissioners"); and <br /> <br />year <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, section 9b <br />terms for the seven <br /> <br />of said Resolution provides <br />(7) at-large members of the <br /> <br />for four (4) <br />Commission; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council desires that the two Senior <br />Commissioners serve two (2) year terms. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA as follows: <br /> <br />1. Section 5 of Resolution 84-99 is hereby amended to read: <br /> <br />The Commission shall be comprised of nine (9) <br />members who shall be qualified electors of <br />the city and state, and as nearly as <br />possible, be representative of the various <br />and diverse religious, racial, cultural and <br />age groups within the city. <br /> <br />The City Council shall make seven (7) <br />commission appointments generally in <br />accordance with existing wards from the best <br />possible applicants available at the time <br />each vacancy occurs, and with the ethnic <br />makeup of the community at large, and meet <br />the affirmative action goals of the City of <br />Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> <br />
