<br />On motion of Councilman Brewer, seconded by Sehlueter ~nd carried, the co~m~unication
<br />from the Planning Commission was received and filed, recommending approval of pro-
<br />posed annexation to the City of territory designated "Seventeenth and Mabury North
<br />Annex", consisting of approximately 19.137 acres located 831 feet east of the
<br />cehter line of Wx. ight Street and north of the intersection of Seventeenth and
<br />
<br />Mabury Streets.

<br />On motion of Councilman Brewer, seconded by Sehlueter and carried, the commmmication
<br />from the Planning Commission was received and filed, recau~ending approval of pro-
<br />posed annexation to the City of territory designated "Talbert & Greenville South
<br />Annex", consisting of approximately 15 acres, located on the south side of Talbert
<br />Avenue on both sides of Greenville Street.

<br />On motion of Councilman Brewer, seconded by Sehlueter and carried, the commmnication
<br />from the Planning Commission was received and filed, recommending approval of pro-
<br />posed annexation to the City of territory designated "Verano and Roberts-West Annex",
<br />consisting of approximately lO acres, located on the west side of Verano Street, amd
<br />north of Smeltzer Avenue.

<br />On motion of Councilman Brewer, seconded by Sehlueter and carried, the communication
<br />from the Planning Coe~ission was received and filed, recon~ending approval of pro-
<br />posed annexation to the City of territory designated "Santa Clara and Lincoln N.E.
<br />Annex", consisting of approxfmately 14.726 acres, located at the northeast corner
<br />of Lincoln and Santa Clara Avenues.

<br />On motion of Councilman Brewer, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the communication
<br />from the Planning C0~ission was received and filed, noting the absence of tennis
<br />facilities in the proposed development plans of N. W. ~2 Park, located at the eouth-
<br />
<br />west corner of Newhope Street and Hazard Avenue, and requesting that more consider-
<br />be given
<br />ation/to the establishment of tennis courts in City parks, preferably with lighted
<br />
<br />facilities.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Brewer, seconded by Sehlueter and carried, the communication
<br />from the Planning Commission was received and filed, requesting that consideration
<br />should be given to the development of a plot large enough to have good tennis
<br />facilities in the proposed N.W. ~ Park, located at the southwest corner of Newhope
<br />Street and Hazard Avenue.

<br />Appeal Application No. 34 of Russell D. Shields was presented on Variance Appli-
<br />cation No. 1522, to build a duplex on a lot with an existing single-family dwelling
<br />at 706 South Birch Street, in the R-2 District, wherein Applicant appeals the
<br />denial of the Zoning Administrator, stating the proposed dwelling is designed for
<br />tenants without children and property on the opposite corner was granted a Variance
<br />for two additional units to rear of existing home because of nearness of a rooming
<br />
<br />house and proposed construction would improve appearance of the neighborhood.

<br />Jack Horton~ representing the applicant stated it is proposed to build a duplex
<br />
<br />at the rear of the existing one-family dwelling and the Planning Co~ission denied
<br />approval for the reason there was insufficient yard area for a family with children.
