No. 61-227 <br />~Intent to appropriate <br />Fiscal Year 1962-63 <br />F~ds for First Street <br />RR Separation Project <br /> <br />Request <br />Voorheis-Trindle- <br />Nelson Inc. <br />(Extension of time <br /> Tent.Tract Map No.3915) <br /> <br />if damage to gas and water pipes could result in a fire hazard. 0a motion of Coun-i <br />cilman Heinly, seconded b~ Brewer and carried, the Attorney was instructed to with-! <br />hold filing any criminal cc~plaint until October 3, 1961, unless such machines are <br /> <br />either corrected or removed, and on that day the Attorney is instructed to file a <br /> <br />criminal complaint against the o~ner of the laundry, if it is found that same is <br /> <br />Justified. <br /> <br />On motion of Councl]m,n Heinly, seconded by Brewer and carried~ the request of the <br /> <br />Department of Public Works was granted, the plans and specifications approved, and <br /> <br />the Purchasing Agent authorized to advertise for bids, for the reconstruction of <br />Fifth Street~ between Harbor Boulevard and Verano Street, Project C-66; and for thei <br />construction of Pacific Avenue, between First Street and a point approx~n~tely 180 ii <br />feet south of First Street, Project C-79; bids to be opened October 16, 1961. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Brewer and carried~ the request of the <br /> i <br />Department of Public Works was granted, the plans and specifications approved, and il <br /> <br />the P~rchasing Agent authorized to advertise for bids~ for the installation of traf~ <br /> <br />fic signals at the intersections of Eighth Street and Broadway; Grand and McFadden <br />Avenues; First Street and Fairview Avenue; and Seventeenth Street and Newhope Avenu$; <br />bids to be opened October 16, 1961. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Brewer and carried, the Purchasing <br /> <br />Agent was authorized to advertise for bids to furnish and deliver one 3-1/2 ton <br /> <br />truck chassis with cab, Specification No. 621-31; bids to be opened October 2, 1961 <br /> <br />after which proposals will be requested for a water tank with accessories to cc~a- <br /> <br />plete the unit. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Brewer and carried, the written recc~- <br /> <br />mendation of the Manager, dated September 14, 1961, was approved for salary step <br /> <br />increases for one employee, effective September l, 1961, and for sixteen employees, <br /> <br />effective October l, 1961. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Brewer and carried, the request of the <br /> <br />Downtow~ Association w~s approved to hold an "Auction Bucks" sales premotion pro- <br /> <br />gram on Saturday, September 30, starting at 9:30 A.M. until 5:30 P.M., with the usel <br />of a public address system for music and the entertainers, plus a non-prOfessional <br /> <br />auctioneer~ to be conducted from a l~-foot trailer stage, which will be moved frc~ <br /> <br />one location to another in the downtown area, requiring two parkings spaces and <br /> <br />four "No Parking" signs and possible additional traffic officers. <br /> <br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolutica, on motion of <br /> <br />Councilman Heinly, seccaded by Brewer and carried, the following Resolution enti- <br /> <br />tled: <br /> <br />"Resolutiou No. 61-227 concerning Council intent to appro- <br /> priate Fiscal Year 1962-63 funds for First Street Railroad <br /> Separation Project" <br /> <br />at the crossing of First Street with the Southern Pacific Railroad and Atchison, <br /> <br />Topeka and Santa Fe Railway tracks near Minnie Street, was considered and passed <br /> <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen Dale H. Neinly, Bob Brewer, Royal E. Hubbard <br />Noes, Councilmen None <br />Absent, Councilmen Henry H. Schlueter, A. A. Hall ' <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Heinly~ seconded by Brewer and carried~ the request of Voor~ <br />heis-Trindle-Nelson Inc. was granted for an extension of one year to enable them to <br />record Tentative Tract Map No. 3915, wherein a portion of this tract, Tract No.402~ <br /> <br />is pr~ently under construction. <br /> <br /> <br />
