RESOLUTION NO. 91-019 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA REGARDING THE SUPPORT FOR A 1/2 CENT <br />SALES TAX INCREASE FOR JUSTICE FACILITIES. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the quality of <br />is in jeopardy due to the lack of <br />county jails; <br /> <br />life for residents in Santa Aha <br />sufficient jail capacity at our <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Sheriff is releasing over $0,000 prisoners <br />a year into our neighborhoods; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has selected <br />Coal-Gypsum Canyon as the site for the new county jail facility; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State <br />to put a 1/2 cent sales tax <br />operation of County justice <br /> <br />legislature has authorized the County <br />increase for the construction and <br />facilities on the ballot; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a special election will be held in the County <br />on May 14, 1991; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the passage of a 1/2 cent sales tax would <br />provide the County with replacement revenue in order to repeal <br />the implementation of the booking fees. <br /> <br /> NOW TItEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY O'F SANTA ANA <br />express its support for placing the 1/2 cent sales tax increase <br />on the May 14, 1991 ballot in order to expedite the construction <br />and operation of a new County jail facility at Coal-Gypsum Canyon. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 4TH day of MARCH , 1991. <br /> <br />293 <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBERS: <br /> <br />Young AYE <br />Acosta AYE <br />Gr i se t AYE <br />McGuigan AYE <br />Norton NAY <br />Pulido AYE <br />Richardson AYE <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br />City Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />
