<br />Appeal Application No. 54 was presented on Variance Application No. 1586, filed by
<br />Bart Allan, to construct a one-story four-unit apartment house in the R-1 District~m
<br />on property at 827 North Baker Street, wherein the Appellant appeals the denial of
<br />the Zoning Administrator. A co~m~unication was presented frc~ Mr. and Mrs. R. D.
<br />Curry, 1136 West lOth Street, protesting the granting of the Variance. On motion
<br />of Councilman Brewer, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the cc~nmunication was re-
<br />ceived and filed. LouiSe Shaeffer, 13822 Ethlebee Way, Santa Ana, stated there is
<br />now an existing single family dwelling which is 50 to 55 years old on the 60 x 177
<br />foot lot and would prefer to construct a duplex or a triplex on this property.
<br />Wesley A. Humphrey, 814 North Baker Street, stated if this Variance is granted it
<br />
<br />would set a precedent for similar multiple units and would change the complex
<br />of this northwest district. Carl Mason) 907 North Baker Street, stated it would
<br />devaluate his property if duplex units are permitted in the area. On motion of
<br />,$ouncilman Brewer, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the Appeal was denied.
<br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried~ the communica-
<br />
<br /> tion fram the Planning Commission was received and filed, recommending approval of
<br /> proposed annexation designated "Fairhaven and Cambridge Southeast Annex," consist-
<br /> lng of approximately 149 acres, located between Fairhaven Street and Santa Clara
<br /> Avenue, east of Wright Street.

<br /> On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried~ the communication
<br /> from the Planning Commission was received and filed, recommending disapproval of
<br /> the suggestion of the Orange County Street Naming C~ittee that the City of Santa
<br /> Ana change the name of Verano Street to Euclid Street.

<br /> The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution~ on motion of
<br /> Councilman Hubbard~ seconded by Heinly and carried, the following Resolution en-
