Headlee, <br />et al~ Crossing Guard <br />Hazard Street at <br />Rosita School <br /> <br />Request <br />Alleviate danger- <br />ous traffic condi- <br />tions Tamy Lane <br /> <br />iRequest <br />Hanson-0' Bryan <br />land Associates <br />(Auction) ~ <br /> <br /> ~PPROVED <br /> <br />iMa~r o~'T~y of Santa Aha <br /> <br />Carrier. ~ <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the claim of Mrs. <br />Vera Halverson, 912 West First Street, for injuries resulting from fall on sidewalk, <br />and Doctor's report and bill in the amount of $65.00, was referred to the Attorney <br />and Insurance Carrier. <br /> <br />Ccmmmnication was a gain presented frc~ Santa Ana Post No. 131, American Legion, re- <br />questing the develoument of a youth center at the site of the presently used Fire <br />Station on Third Street, west of Bristol Street, said building to be for the use <br />of youth groups sponsored by the Legion. The MAnager orally recommended that a <br />letter be written to the American Legion advising of the Council's intention to <br />sell the fire station; it is not contemplated to be a part of the recreation pro- <br />gram; the Planning Department indicates rezoning would be required for use as re- <br />quested by the Legion; parking is inadequate; the Building Department reports exten- <br />sive remodeling would be required to meet the Building Code inasmuch as it was not <br />designed for general assemblage, and because of deterioration and termite damage; <br />and if the Legion maintains an interest in purchasing the property they will be <br />notified as to the date the property will be offered for sale. On motion of Council- <br />man Heinly, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the communication was received and <br />filed, and the Manager instructed to write a letter to the Legion as recommended. <br /> <br />A petition with approximately ll8 signatures was presented from Mrs. Joe W. Headle~ <br />et al, Corresponding Secretary, Rosita School P.T.A., requesting a Crossing Guard <br />on Hazard Street in front of the School. Department of Public Works recommended <br />that this location be investigated by the Police Department and the proper officer, <br />or crossing guard, be effectuated in confora~ce with the policy of the Police De- <br />partment. The Manager orally reported an investigation indicated the location <br />meets the standards which have been established for the desirability of protection, <br />recommended that protection be provided, and suggested an attempt should be made <br />to establish protection on the basis of the School Boy Patrol. Mrs. Joe W. Headlee, <br />1102 North Berni Street, stated the traffic on Hazard Street tends to be heavy dur- <br />ing the times when the children are coming or going fr~m the school, and requested <br />that protection be provided at this location. On motion of Councilman Heinly, secr <br />onded by Hubbard and carried, the petition was received, filed, and the Manager <br />instructed to take appropriate action to provide protection for the children cross- <br />ing Hazard Street at Rosita School. <br /> <br />The Manager orally reported the Department of Public Works has under consideration <br />the matter of the dangerous traffic conditions on Tamy Lane, and a report will be <br />made to the Council, reference the per, ion, signed by approximately 60 persons, re- <br />ferred to the Department of Public Works by the Council August 7, 1961. On motion <br />of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried, the Department of Public <br />Works was instructed to expedite a solution to the traffic problem on Tamy Lane. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilm~ Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the request of <br />Hanson-O'Bryan and Associates was granted to hold an auction March 17, 1962, of <br />skin-diving equipment, per list submitted. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Heinly and carried, the City Council <br />adjourned. <br /> <br />Cl~rk of'tH% CoUncil <br /> <br /> <br />
