,', 499 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92- 075 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA INCREASING THE NUMBER <br />OF MEMBERS OF THE HUMAN RELATIONS COM- <br />MISSION TO FIFTEEN MEMBERS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the city Council of the City of Santa Ana, by its <br />Resolution No. 84-99, adopted August 20, 1984, reorganized and <br />reestablished the Human Relations Commission of the City of Santa <br />Aha; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to increase the <br />membership of the Human Relations Commission; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. That section 5 of Resolution No. 84-99 is hereby amended <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />The Commission shall be comprised of fifteen <br />(15) members who shall be qualified electors <br />of the city and state, and as nearly as pos- <br />sible, be representative of the various and <br />diverse religious, racial, cultural and age <br />groups within the city. <br /> <br />The City Council shall make thirteen (13) com- <br />mission appointments generally in accordance <br />with existing wards from the best possible <br />applicants available at the time each vacancy <br />occurs, and with the ethnic makeup of the <br />community at large, and meet the affirmative <br />action goals of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> 2. That the Clerk of the Council is authorized and directed <br />to establish a procedure of selection by lot, whereby three (3) of <br />the additional six (6) positions on the Human Relation Commission <br />authorized by this resolution shall have terms ending after the <br />general municipal elections of 1992 and every four (4) years <br />thereafter, and the remaining three (3) additional positions shall <br />have terms ending after the general municipal elections of 1994 and <br />every four (4) years thereafter. <br /> <br /> <br />
