Harvey review the plans. Roger E. Harvey, 2214 N. Forest, spoke regarding the need for a traffic guard at the he stated corner of Santa Clara and Bristol, which/has become a dangerous intersection for school children. Interested members of the audience had been requested to stand and there was a showing of about thirty. There followed considerable discussion as to the warrants for use of crossing guards or school patrols~ and their significance and comparative weight. It was agreed that Warrant No. 2 needed clarification. Mr. Harvey also stated that the Principal of Santiago Elementary School will not consider a school patrol. CounciLman Brewer made a motion that the adult traffic guard be reinstalled until the school boy patrol is in effect, ~r if not~ that the adult traffic guard remain. The motion died from lack of a second. Webb Brown, 1701 No. Flower~ property owner~ stated that his tenants refuse to park along this street, it has become so hazardous, and he gave illustrations of recent accidents at this corner. Proposed Annexation Harbor & Edinger East Preliminary Records of Survey - 275-276-277-278 Final Map No 4749 It was moved by Councilman Schlueter, seconded by Brewer and carried, that a traffic officer be installed at the intersection for two weeks while a study and survey is made, with recommendations being presented to the Council on September 17. The City Manager requested specific instructions, and the following information is to be obtained: (1) Count of traffic at this and similar crossings. (2) Speed of traf- fic. (3) Number of students using crossing. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, letter frmn the Planning Con~nission recom~ending approval of proposed annexation to be known as the "Harbor and Edinger East Annexation" was received and filed. It was moved by Council- man Hubbard~ seconded by Schlueter and carried, that a Resolution be adopted indicat- ing intention to annex property designated as "Harbor and Edinger East Annexation." On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Brewer and carried~ the following tract maps were approved subject to conditions: Preliminary Record of Survey No. 275 filed by Alpha Beta Markets, Inc., creating ~parcels located generally at the northwest corner of Sullivan and McFadden. Preliminary Record of Survey No. 276 filed by C. Michael creating 2 parcels located at the northeast corner of Fairview and Warner. Preliminary Record of Survey No. 277 filed by Neal Minter creating 3 parcels located at the northwest corner of Memory Lane and Bristol Street. Agreement No. 1355 Construct Traffic Signal Broadway-N. Park Blvd & Santa Clara Avenue Escrow Instructions Preliminary Record of Survey No. 278 filed by Vina Harmer Marsh creating 4 par- cels located southeast of Silver Drive and Gates Street. and that Final Map of Tract No. 4749 filed by Irving C. Jordan creating 22 lots loc- ated north of 17th Street on Deodar Street be approved subject to City Attorney's approval of agreement and bond.
