Forest, spoke regarding the need for a traffic guard at the <br /> he stated <br />corner of Santa Clara and Bristol, which/has become a dangerous intersection for <br /> <br />school children. Interested members of the audience had been requested to stand and <br />there was a showing of about thirty. There followed considerable discussion as to <br />the warrants for use of crossing guards or school patrols~ and their significance <br />and comparative weight. It was agreed that Warrant No. 2 needed clarification. Mr. <br />Harvey also stated that the Principal of Santiago Elementary School will not consider <br />a school patrol. CounciLman Brewer made a motion that the adult traffic guard be <br />reinstalled until the school boy patrol is in effect, ~r if not~ that the adult <br />traffic guard remain. The motion died from lack of a second. Webb Brown, 1701 No. <br /> <br />Flower~ property owner~ stated that his tenants refuse to park along this street, it <br /> <br />has become so hazardous, and he gave illustrations of recent accidents at this corner. <br /> <br />Proposed Annexation <br />Harbor & Edinger East <br /> <br />Preliminary Records of <br />Survey - 275-276-277-278 <br />Final Map No 4749 <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Schlueter, seconded by Brewer and carried, that a traffic <br />officer be installed at the intersection for two weeks while a study and survey is <br />made, with recommendations being presented to the Council on September 17. The City <br />Manager requested specific instructions, and the following information is to be <br />obtained: (1) Count of traffic at this and similar crossings. (2) Speed of traf- <br />fic. (3) Number of students using crossing. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, letter frmn the <br />Planning Con~nission recom~ending approval of proposed annexation to be known as the <br />"Harbor and Edinger East Annexation" was received and filed.
