CLEARANCE OF SIGNS On motion of Counc~lmau Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, a <br />STREET RIGHT OF WAY <br />CA-20 report frc~ the Director of Public Works regarding clearance of signs, etc. from <br /> <br /> street right of way on business streets, was received and ordered filed. <br /> <br />COUNCILMAN BREWER <br />EXCUSED <br /> <br />PAYMENT FOR PAVING <br />TUSTIN AVE. & 4TH ST. <br />CA-65 <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, <br />payment of $11,018.30 to the estate of Dixon W. Tubbs for the paving and widening <br />of Tustin Avenue and Fourth Street was approved. <br /> <br />S IDE%~ALK C LEA tbINCE <br />SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD <br />17TH AND GRAND <br />CA-23 <br /> <br />The Council received and considered a staff r~port on a request by Glenn D. Tabor, <br />Superintendent of Schools, for sidewalk area clearance on the south side of 17th <br />Street betwee~ Lincoln and Grand Avenues and establishment of a school crossing <br />guard at the intersection of 17th Street and Grand Avenue. Mrs. Jean Jones, 1533 <br />E. Washington, spoke in favor of a crossing guard. The City Manager noted that <br />this intersection does not meet the standards established by the Public Works <br />Department, and City Council's past policy has been to not provide a guard at <br />signalized intersections. The Manager therefore recommended denial of the crossing <br />guard. Kirwood Jacobs, 915 E. Avalon, spoke in opposition to school boy patrols. <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, the Council <br />received the report and requested the City Nanager to investigate further the <br />request and warrants for crossing guard. <br /> <br />RIGHT OF WAY APPRAISAL <br />PROJECT 138 <br /> CA-65 <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard~ seconded by Schlueter and carried, payment of <br />$3,800.00 to D. A. Armstrong to furnish appraisals on right of way acquisition for <br />Project 138, First Street, Evergreen Street to Grand Avenue, was approved. <br /> <br />TALBERT PROJECT 131 <br />ARTERIAL HWY FINANCING <br />PROJECT 100 <br />CA-63 <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, <br />Council approved an application to the State of California Public Utilities Commis- <br />sion for an order authorizing a grade crossing at Talbert Avenue. <br /> <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES <br />INSTALLED OR REMOVED <br />CA-1tO <br /> <br />On motion of CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, Council received <br />and ordered filed a report on traffic control devices installed or removed by depart- <br />mental traffic order during the period August 30 through September 12, 1962. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE TO REDUCE <br />SPEED - BRISTOL STR~'i' <br />AT MEMORY LANE <br />C~-19 <br /> <br />Mayor Hall introduced by title "ORDINANCE NO, NS-60? REDUCING THE PRIMA FACIE <br />SPEED LIMIT ON BRISTOL STREET, MEMORY LANE T0 1200 F~'I' SOUTH 0FMEMORY LANE." <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Cooncilman Schlueter, that further <br />reading be waived and Ordinance No. NS-60? be passed to second reading. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS <br />PROJECTS C-81, C-83 <br />and C-85 <br />c^-89 <br /> <br />On motion of Coancilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, <br />Council approved plans and specifications and authorized the call for bids on <br />Projects No. C-81, C-83 and C-85, with bids to be opened October l, 1962. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF SPEC. 631-~ <br />FIRE EQUIPMENT <br />CA-89 <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Schlueter and carried, Council granted <br />permission to advertise for bids for fire hose, with bids to be opened October l, <br /> <br />1962. <br /> <br />At 8:30 p.m. Councilman Brewer was excused from the remainder of the meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
