NO. 62-186 <br />CA-50 <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by 8ouncilman Brewer and carried, Council <br />received and ordered filed a letter, resolution, and accompanying documents frc~ Mrs. <br />Anna Mae Famalar0~ 2110 Victoria Drive, requesting that Council deny the privilege of <br />solicitiz~ funds and donations for UNICEF. Mr. John Thornquist, 1101 N. Wright, and <br />Mrs. Famalaro spoke in support of the request. It was moved by Councilman Gilmore, <br />seconded by Councilman Hubbard and carried, that Council take no ftmther action at <br />this time, inasmuch as no application has been received for such solicitation. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, per- <br />mission was granted to the Chamber of Co~uerce to install lights on the streets at <br />Christmas, subject to approval by the Division of Highways. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilmsn Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, Council <br />received, ordered filed, and approved a staff report reccmmmnding denial of four way <br />stop signs at the intersection of Bolsa and Newhope. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman ~chlueter and carried, Council <br />received and ordered filed a telegram from Lewis E. Mantonya, President, Valley High <br />School Boosters Club, urging support in getting a new football stadium in the south <br />end of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, Council <br />received and referred to the Manager for investigation a letter from Alton Fowler, <br />representative of Rossmoor Corporation, requesting a temporary helistop location on <br />City property. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, Council <br />approved payment of $2850.00 to John C. Wallace for negotiation services in property <br />acquisition. <br /> <br />Council resm~ed discussion continued from September 17, 1962, of a request from the <br />Superintendent of Schools for a crossing guard at the intersection of 17th and Grand. <br />Robert H. Stopher, 1251 E. 14th Street, spoke in favor of the guard. Council was <br />furnished with additional information on traffic turning movements by the City Manager. <br />It was moved by Councilman Brewer, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried, that a <br />crossing guard be placed at the intersection of 17th and Grand. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Brewer, seconded by Councilman Hubbard and carried, that <br />in accordance with the request of the Do, town Santa Ana Association, action on the <br />one way street plan be postponed until October 15, 1962. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, Council <br />approved Change Orders i and 2 for Project 134, construction of Fairview Street be- <br />tween 5th and 17th Streets. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, Council <br />received and. approved the City Manager's report recommending merit salary increases. <br /> <br />Council discussed the results of a salary survey which indicated the desirability cf <br />granting an increase in Santa Ana salaries. Mayor N~11 introduced by title "RESOLUTI0~ <br />62-186 AMENDING SECTION 3 OF RESOLUTION 58-281." It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, <br />seconded by Councilman Schlueter and carried, that further reading be waived and <br /> <br /> <br />
