On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Brewer and carried, Prelim- <br /> <br />inary Record of Survey 268 was withdrawn from the agenda. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Brewer, seconded by Councilman Hubbard and carried, co~nunications <br />were received and filed from the following: Mrs. Janice Boer, 912 N. Lowell (with exhibit~; <br />Frank J. Gelinas, Secretary Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, (with report of Executive Com- <br /> <br />~y <br /> <br />mittee); R. H. Day, 1015 N. Freeman Street; Charles G. Schlegel, Attorney, 433 W. 8th <br /> <br />Street; Falcon Benchwarmers of S.A. Valley High School; Floyd E. Weaver, Structural Engi- <br /> <br />neer, 223 E. 17th Street; and Glen D. Tabor, Superintendent of Santa Ana City Schools. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Brewer that this Council does now determine that the City shalll, <br />go forward immediately with the required procedures for the construction of a stadium on <br /> <br />the presently owned City properties lying between 6th and 8th Streets west of Flower Street, <br />such stadium to provide for 10,000 seats (as listed in Revised Plan "A!', Option I,) with <br />opportunity for ~utu~e expansion to 20,000 seats; and that the City Manager is instructed <br /> <br />to prepare the necessary amendments to the city's contract with the architect, Robert <br /> <br />Hernandez, and submit said amendments to the Council not later than 5:00 p.m. November 13,1 <br /> <br />1962. Lowell, protested that consideration had not be given to Floyd <br /> <br />E. Weaver's design for remodeling the stadium. Frank Gelinas, Secretary to the Santa Ana <br />Chamber of Co~nerce, read a statement requesting f~rther study of the matter. On motion <br />of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Brewer and carried, the statement was re- <br />ceived and filed. ChArles Schlegel, 433 W. 8th Street and Ridley Smith, 1022 N. Flower, <br />spoke in favor of the selected bowl site. <br /> <br />COUNCIL RECESS <br /> <br />At 9:20 p.m., a five minute recess was declared. APP 415 <br />CA-42 <br /> <br />STOP SIGNS <br />SECOND aND PAWTON <br />C~-20 <br /> <br />hensive Master Plan. <br /> <br />On m~tion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried, Council re- <br />ceived ~nd concurred with a staff report that signals will be installed at Raitt and <br />Warner when funds are available, that a four way stop is not warranted, but that a Safety <br />Patrol Program will be investigated with the school personnel. <br /> <br />Council was advised by the City Mannger that the request of M~ahan's Furniture Store for <br />rem~v~l of parking meter and additional loading zone had already been cemplied with. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and unanimously carried, <br />an Ordinance entitled "ORDINANCE NO. NS-621 AMENDING ARTICLE IX OFT HE SANTA ANAMUNICIP~ <br />CODE TO CHANGE DISTRICT CLASSIFICATION ON AMENDMENT APPLICATION 415 AND AMENDING SECTIONed <br />DISTRICT MAP 12-5-10 (EXHIBIT AA 415 A)" was passed to second reading without further <br />reading. <br /> <br />Council received and concurred with a staff report regarding the request for four-way <br />stop signs at Second and Parton. Investigation revealed that two-way stop signs were <br />warranted, and they will be installed by the Public Works Department. <br /> <br /> <br />
