On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Brewer and unanimously <br />carried, Council passed to second reading an Ordinance entitled "C~DINANCE NO. Bowles to con- <br />struct an 8-unit apart~aent building at 427 E. Chestnut in the R-2 District under Variance <br />1690. Council heard testimor~ frc~a Julian Bowles, 3916 Liberty Blvd., South Gate, appli- <br />cant. W. H. Borter, 422 E. Chestnut, spoke in favor of the variance. There being no <br />further testimony, the hearing was closed. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Gilmore, that the Council over- <br />rule the action of the Zoning Administrator and instruct She City Attorney to prepare a <br />resolution granting Variance No. 1690 subject to the recommended contitions. Chestnut under Variance 1689. Nerman Smedegaard, attorney for the <br />applicants, presented a petition with ten signatures requesting that the application be <br />approved. On motion of Couneilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Sehlueter and carried, <br />the petition was received and ordered filed. ~. A. McBride, 602 Myrtle Street, presented <br />a petition in opposition with nit, teen signat~es. On motion of Councilman Brewer, <br />seconded by Councilman Hubbard and carried, the petition was received and filed. ~. H. <br />Borter, 422 E. Chestnut, spoke in favor of the variance. Frank Corpin, 601 E. Myrtle, <br />spoke in opposition. Francis Turner, 622 E. Myrtle, and Stanley C. Brown, 621 Myrtle, <br />spoke against the granting c~ the variance.
