RESOLUTION NO. 95- 071 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING THE <br />APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS FOR THE <br />TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES <br />PROGRAM UNDER THE INTERMODAL SURFACE <br />TRANSPORTATION EFFICIENCY ACT OF 1991 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana, in cooperation with the <br />State of california Department of Transportation, desires to <br />enhance the landscape aesthetics along Interstate 5 in the City of <br />Santa Ana in Orange County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the United States Congress has enacted the <br />Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991, which is <br />intended to provide over $200 million in federal funds over a six <br />year period to local, state and federal agencies and nonprofit <br />entities for projects to enhance and mitigate the environmental <br />impacts of modified or new public transportation facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State of California Department of <br />Transportation and the Orange County Transportation Authority have <br />established the procedures and criteria for reviewing grant <br />proposals and are required to submit to the California <br />Transportation Commission a list of recommended projects from which <br />the grant recipients will be selected; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said procedures and criteria established by the <br />State of California Department of Transportation require a <br />resolution certifying the approval of application by the <br />applicant's governing body before submission of said application to <br />the State of California Department of Transportation and the <br />California Transportation Commission; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the application contains assurances that the <br />applicant must comply with; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the applicant, if selected, will enter into an <br />agreement with the State of California to carry out the <br />Transportation Enhancement Activities Project. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: <br /> <br /> 1. Approves the filing of a joint application for <br />Transportation Enhancement Activities Program grant assistance. <br /> <br /> 2. Certifies that the City of Santa Aha will make adequate <br />provisions for operation and maintenance of the project. <br /> <br /> 3. Appoints James G. Ross, Executive Director of Public <br />Works as agent of the city of Santa Ana to conduct all <br />negotiations, execute and submit all documents, including, but not <br />limited to applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests <br />and so on, which may be necessary for the completion of the <br />aforementioned project. <br /> <br /> <br />
