REL: 7/23/96 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 96- 075 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE cITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA, ENDORSING AND INITI- <br />ATING THE CITY'S EV-READY COMMUNITY <br />PROGRAM <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the city of Santa Ana supports goals, objectives, <br />policies and action programs to protect air quality, enhance energy <br />security, and enhance international competitiveness; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the overall goal of the EV-READY COMMUNITY .is to lay <br />the infrastructure to enable city residents and visitors to utilize <br />electric vehicles; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has the opportunity to take a <br />leadership role in the development of advanced, transportation and <br />clean air technologies; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review <br />Committee (MSRC) of the South Coast Air District intends to <br />allocate funds to EV-Ready Communities for electric vehicle <br />charging infrastructure through the Quick Charge Program; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana wishes to implement an electric <br />vehicle charging infrastructure project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The City of Santa Ana is one of nine cities who have <br />already been awarded Combined Transportation Funding Program (CTFP) <br />for this purpose; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA CITY COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. The City Council endorses and initiates the city's EV- <br />READY COMMUNITY PROGRAM. <br /> <br /> 2. The City Council authorizes staff to commit <br />participation requirements for MSRC funding, and to <br />READY, by taking the following steps: <br /> <br />to minimum <br />become EV- <br /> <br />Utilize the latest model Uniform Building Code and <br />National Electrical Code revisions adopted by the State <br />of California, effective August 19, 1996. <br /> <br />Maintain existing City ordinances permitting the instal- <br />lation of electric charging facilities. <br /> <br />Utilize existing streamline permit process to allow for <br />residential charging equipment installation within 72 <br /> <br /> <br />
