017 <br /> <br />J~F= 1/2~/~7 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 97-005 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF <br />OF POLICE TO ENTER INTO PAY-TO-STAY <br />AGREEMENTS WITH JAIL INMATES. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the new Santa Ana jail will implement several <br />contract-inmate revenue generating programs to defray the cost of <br />operating the jail; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, one such program is a pay-to-stay agreement with <br />inmates; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this agreement would allow an inmate sentenced to do <br />jail time by any court in California to serve the sentence in the <br />Santa~Ana jail upon payment by the inmate of a per diem rate; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the sentence structure, actual dates, times, and <br />specific conditions of incarceration are to be dictated by the <br />court order authorizing the inmate's incarceration and contained in <br />the "Pay-to-Stay" agreement, a form of which is attached as Exhibit <br />A; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the program will be limited to individuals who reside <br />or work in Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA that the Chief of Police, or his designee, on behalf <br />of the City of Santa Ana, is authorized to enter into "Pay-to-Stay" <br />agreements, in a form substantially similar to the attached Exhibit <br />A, with inmates who are under court order to serve jail time, and <br />choose to do so in the Santa Ana Jail. <br /> <br /> ADOPTED this <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> k of the Council <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br /> Februarv , 1997. <br />yol A.
