MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />April 25, 1963 <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chamber, City <br />Hall, Santa Ana~ California. Roll call was answered by Councilman Hubbard~ <br />Harvey, Gilmore, and Mayor Hall. Councilman Schlueter was absent. <br /> <br />C~.RRK'S REPORT The Clerk reported that a Notice of <br /> Special Meeting had been mailed to each <br /> Councilman and to the press, and she <br /> submitted a Certificate of Mailing. <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Gilmore and carried, <br />Council received and ordered filed the Certificate of Mailing. <br /> <br />BID AWABD - Council heard a report of bids received <br />MUNICIPAL STADIUM for the construction of the Municipal <br /> Stadium frc~ the City Manager, who also <br /> reported that the low bidder, Boa <br />Corporation, had failed to enter all of the subcontractors as required <br />in the specifications, and had entered an erroneous figure for the electrical <br />subcontracting work. A letter from the Boa Corporation requesting permission <br />to withdraw their bid was received, ordered filed and approved on motion <br />of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried. <br /> <br />Council heard a statement by William Cook, Santa Ana City Schools~ that <br />although he was certain the Schools would be willing to contribute towards <br />the extra cost of having the stadium completed by October l, 1963, he was <br />not prepared to state the amount of the contribution. On motion of Council- <br />man Hubbard, seconded by Councilmau Gilmore, Council received and ordered <br />filed the City Manager's report, approved award of the contract to the <br />Gallegos Corporation under Proposal No. i in the amount of $744,576.00~ <br />to be c~npleted October l, 1963, and rejected all other bids. On roll call <br />vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, <br />Noes, <br />Absent, <br /> <br />CounciLmen: Hubbard, Harvey, Gllmore~ Mayor Hall <br />Councilmen: None <br />Councilmen: Schlueter <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Councilmsa Gilmore and earried~ <br />Council authorized a meeting with authorities to discuss school participation <br />in the extra cost of completing the stadium by October l, 1963. <br /> <br />BID AWABD Council received a tabulation of bids and <br />D~4OLITION- heard the Manager's report that the Fowler <br />FI~TH STREET Equipment Company, low bidder for the <br /> demolition of buildings on Fifth Street, <br />did not have the required State Contractors License. On motion of Councilman <br />Hubbard, seconded by Councilman Harvey and carried~ the contract was awarded <br />to Self Wrecking and Supply Company in the amount of $22,875.00 and all <br />other bids were rejected. <br /> <br />~i~ROPOLITAN On motion of Councilma~ Hubbard, seconded <br />STATUS by Councilman Gilmore and carried, Council <br /> authorized the Mayor to attend, with <br /> expenses paid bythe City, the conference <br />in Washington, D.C. on April 29, 1963 regarding metropolitan status for <br />Orange County. <br /> <br />City Council - 83 - <br /> <br />April 25, 1963 <br /> <br /> <br />
