285 DHY: 7/24/98 RESOLUTION NO. 98-041 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING THE MISCELLANEOUS FEE SCHEDULE TO INCREASE THE VEHICLE RELEASE FEES FOR VEHICLES IMPOUNDED AFTER DRIVERS FL%VE BEEN ARRESTED OR CITED FOR DRIVING WITHOUT A VALID LICENSE. W~EREAS, the City of Santa Aha has been conditionally approved for a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety for the Traffic Offender Program; and W~EREAS, the Traffic Offender Program is designed to reduce the number of vehicular accidents in the streets of Santa Aha through the arrest or cite of drivers who are operating motor vehicles without a license or with a suspended or revoked license; and WHEREAS, the grant will provide the City of Santa Ana with the additional funds to hire personnel and purchase equipment to carry out the program, specifically the City of Santa ~_na will be able to hire two police officers, one police sergeant, and an analyst; and WHEREAS, as a condition of receipt of the grant the City of Santa ~_na must raise its fees for the release of vehicles impounded after the arrest or cite of these drivers; and W~EREAS, such increase is necessary so that funds may be placed in a special traffic safety fund to ensure the continuation of the program once grant funds are exhausted; and WHEREAS, the vehicles being impounded under the Traffic Offender Program are done so pursuant to non-consensual tows; and WHEREAS, this Council after duly noticed public hearing, has determined that; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SD~NTAANA AS FOLLOWS: The City of Santa Aha shall raise the release fee for vehicles impounded after the arrest of drivers who are operating a vehicle without a license or under a suspended or revoked license to one hundred and twenty five dollars ($125.00).
