307 <br /> <br />cls:9-07-00 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000-062 <br /> <br />THE RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA ESTABLISHING THE SOUTH METRO <br />PERMIT PARKING DISTRICT <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />Section 22507 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California authorizes a city <br />to prohibit stopping, parking or standing of vehicles on certain streets and to <br />establish a permit system exempting residents, merchants and guests from <br />the prohibition. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Article XI (commencing with Section 36-480) of Chapter 36 of <br />the Santa Ana Municipal Code, (hereinafter "Article xr') the City Council of <br />the City of Santa Ana is authorized to adopt a resolution establishing Permit <br />Parking Districts wherein parking restrictions apply to all vehicles except <br />vehicles which have been issued parking permits pursuant to said Article. <br /> <br />C <br /> <br />The South Metro residential neighborhood is in need of parking restrictions <br />to protect its integrity from the intrusion of vehicular parking incidental to <br />commercial and governmental activities, to allow for adequate emergency <br />vehicle access, to counter the visually blighting effect of highly intensive on- <br />street parking, and to discourage overcrowding of dwelling units. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: The South Metro Permit Parking District is hereby established, to <br />consist of that area of the City of Santa Ana generally bounded on the north by Warner <br />Avenue, on the east by Bristol Street, on the south by Sunflower Avenue and City limits, <br />and on the west by Fairview Street, as more particularly depicted in Exhibit 1, attached <br />hereto and incorporated herein by reference. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: The parking restrictions imposed pursuant to Article Xl and this <br />Resolution shall apply to any block within the South Metro Permit Parking District only <br />after a petition signed by the owners of sixty-six percent (66%) or more of the residential <br />lots abutting such block have filed a petition with the Executive Director of the Public <br />Works Agency expressing their desire for such parking restrictions, and after signs <br />indicating the parking restrictions on such block have been erected in accordance with <br />Article XI. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: No person shall park any vehicle at any time on any portion of any <br />street within the South Metro Permit Parking District as to which signs have been erected <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2000-062 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
