Design and Development Standards <br /> , : Buildin and Site Lighting <br /> <br /> Code Requirements: <br /> <br />The following are existing provisions of Santa Ann Municipal Code related to addressing <br />lighting: <br /> <br />Section 8-210 0,m,n,o): Thc following special provisions apply to all residential dwellings: <br /> <br />I. All cxterlor doors shall bc equipped with a lighting device which shall provide a minimum <br /> maintained one foot-candle of tight at ground level during hours of darkness. Vandal resistant <br /> covers shall protect lighting devices. <br /> <br />Aisles, passageways and recesses related to and within multiple.family dwelling complexes <br />shall be equipped with lighting devices which shall provide a minimum maintained one foot- <br />candle of light at wound level during hours of darkness. Vandal resistant covers shall protect <br />lighting devices. <br /> <br />All parking lots, carports, garages and parking s~'uctures of multiple-family dwelling <br />complexes shall be equipped with lighting devices which will provide a minimum maintained <br />one foot-candle of light on thc parking surface during hours of darkness. Subtecrancan parking <br />lots shall maintain lighting 24 hours a day. Vandal resistant covers shall protect lighting <br />devices. <br /> <br />o. All exterior required lighting devices shall be placed at a height which will fully illuminate an <br /> average adult. (Malibu lights or tmllard lighting does not satisfy this requirement.) <br /> <br />Section 8-211(m)(2-4): The following special provisions apply to commercial (non.residential) <br /> buildings: <br />m. The following standards for lighting and address markings shall apply to commercial (non- <br /> residential) buildings: <br /> <br />All exterior doom (podes~an and overhead) shall be equipped with a lighting device which shall <br />provide a minimum maintained one foot-candle of light at wound level du~ng hours of darkness. <br />Vandal resistant covers shall pro~ect lighting devices. <br /> <br />All parking lots, and access thereto, providing more than 10 parking spaces and for use by the <br />general public, shall be provided with a minimum maintained one foot-candle of light on the <br />parking surface from dusk until the termination of business every operating day. At all other <br />hours of darkness, a minimum maintained 0.25 foot-candles of light shall be provided at ground <br />level. (These standards are applicable to any private parking area, regardless of size or users.) <br /> <br />4. Exterior lighting shall not shine away from subject property. (Lighting shall not glare onto or <br /> direct exposed lights to adjacent property.) <br /> <br />C. Section 41-130~(c, h): <br /> c. Lights used to illuminate the parking area shall bc reflected away (or shielded) from any residence <br /> or sensitive ]and use. <br /> <br />Sensitive land uses as used in this section are those adjacent land uses such as day care, parks, <br />schools, churches, convalescent homes, and hospitals that will be potentially impac~d by the <br />proposed parking lot and ancillary parking activities. <br /> <br /> <br />
