Broyles and Fern <br />Ztmmer~an, <br /> <br />CITVZW~S ADVISORY C01~9~-,'.:~. <br /> <br />C~mmlttee for the General Plan Program. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, <br />seconded by COUncilman Schlueter that <br />Mrs. Loule Boer, be removed as a <br />member of the Citizens Advisory <br /> <br />Patrick Duggan, 1~02 E. 21st Street, member of the Citizens Advisory Committee, <br />referred to an editorial in The Independent which urged citizens to take an <br />active part in Government, end he expressed the opinion that no action should <br />be taken against Mrs. Boer, ~ut that she could instead relinquish the chairm-=- <br />ship of the sub-c,~ttee and continue to serve on the c~ittee. <br /> <br />Mrs. Boer state~ that no charges had been filed against her in the City Clerk's <br />office and that her removal was instigate~ by a group favoring an Urban Renewal <br />Program. <br /> <br />Dr. Donald Lind, 26~3 N. Main, member of the CAC and Inter-City Sub-Co,,,~ttee, <br />requesting that the contents of the petition be reveale~ before a vote was taken; <br />noted he had net observed Mrs. Boer to be an obstructionist. <br /> <br />Joseph Gilmaker, 308 W. 4th Street, stated he felt the charges were unduly made <br />and suggested a co~lete reorganization of the c~ittee. <br /> <br />Clifford Frazier, 20~9 S. Halladay, requested that the contents of the petition <br />be revealed, and agreed with the suggestion that the committee be reorganized. <br /> <br />Mrs. Boer stated three members of the E~ecutive Board were there illegally; <br />criticized the creed of the committee, which she claimed was from the Cmmunist <br />Manifesto; read from Executive Board Minutes of October 16th regarding dropping <br />members frem the Citizens Advisory Cemaittee only by request; read from Executive <br />Board Minutes of February llth regarding her request that rules be established <br />and the creed be 'removed; asked for reorganization of committee. <br /> <br />Gordon Bricken, 811 N. Minter, Sub-C~ttee Chair-~ of Governmental Services <br />and member of the Executive Board, stated that he had not signed the petition <br />because he did not agree with the petitioners' tactics; that he had tried to <br />assist in ironing out the difficulty between Mrs. Boer and the Executive Board <br />a~ter asking the Council not to accept her resignation several months ago, without <br />success; that there was a conflict of nine or ten people against one, and Council <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL - 350 - March 16, 196~ <br /> <br /> <br />
