RESOLUTION 2001-051 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A <br />GRANT AGREEMENT WITH KABOOM, A NON-PROFIT <br />ORGANIZATION, FOR THE DESIGN AND <br />CONSTRUCTION OF PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT AT <br />DELHI PARK <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana has been selected to receive a grant from Kaboom, <br />a non-profit organization, in the amount of $15,000.00 to design and <br />construct playground equipment at Delhi Park. <br /> <br />Kaboom is a national non-profit organization that joins together <br />individuals, organizations and businesses for the purpose of building <br />community partnership to construct safe and accessible playgrounds. <br /> <br />City staff has collaborated with Kaboom, the Delhi neighborhood and the <br />Home Depot to implement this program. The neighborhood has been <br />involved in planning meetings and has committed volunteers for the <br />project. Home Depot has agreed to be the corporate sponsor of the <br />program by providing $15,000.00 in materials, and volunteers to help <br />construct the playground area. <br /> <br />The students at Monroe Elementary School will assist in the project by <br />participating in "Design Day", an event at which they will be given an <br />opportunity to design and draw the types of playground equipment they <br />would like to see at the park. <br /> <br />Eo <br /> <br />Kaboom will provide staff to assist in community organization, community <br />fund raising, and community participation in the design and construction of <br />the playground. <br /> <br />The Kaboom grant funding and community effort will initiate the Delhi Park <br />playground equipment improvements. Matching funds in the amount of <br />$15,000.00 are required of the City in order to participate in this program. <br />Said matching funds have been budgeted in the Safe Neighborhood <br />Parks, Clean Water, Clean Air and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2000 <br />account. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2001-051 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
