RESOLUTION NO. 2001-068 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR <br />GRANT FUNDS TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO THE <br />SANTA ANA RIVER BIKE TRAIL UNDER THE BICYCLE <br />TRANSPORTATION ACCOUNT PROGRAM <br /> <br />bk:10/10/01 <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />On March 2, 2001, the California Department of Transportation issued a <br />call for projects for the Bicycle Transportation Account ("BTA") Program <br />for fiscal year 2001-2002. The BTA funds are to be authorized statewide <br />on a competitive basis. <br /> <br />B= <br /> <br />Approximately $7.2 million for fiscal year 2001-2002 is available statewide <br />for the BTA Program. <br /> <br />C= <br /> <br />The City of Santa Ana has an ongoing project to improve the Santa Ana <br />River Bike Trail. Currently, the City is planning and implementing <br />improvements to the Santa Ana River Bike Trail that will be constructed in <br />conjunction with the Memory Lane Bridge Widening Project. The <br />proposed cost of the Bike Trail Improvements related to this project is <br />estimated to be $114, 000.00. <br /> <br />If awarded the grant, the City of Santa Ana will enter into the agreement <br />with the State of California with $10,400.00 in matching funds from the <br />Memory Lane Bridge Widening Project, Measure M Street Construction <br />Fund. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby approves the <br />submittal of an application for $104,000.00 to the California Department of <br />Transportation for Santa Ana River Bike Trail Improvements to be constructed in <br />conjunction with the Memory Lane Bridge Widening Project under the 2001-2001 <br />Bicycle Transportation/~,ccount Program. <br /> <br /> Section $. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and <br />empowers the Executive Director of the Public Works Agency or designee to execute in <br />the name of the City of Santa Ana all necessary applications, contracts, agreements, <br />amendments and payments requests hereto for the purpose of securing grant funds and <br />to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application. <br /> <br />Resolution No, 2001-068 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
