Roll call was anSwered by Councilmen~ Royal E. Hubbard, Harry H. <br />Harvey, James Gilmore, Henry H. Schlueter, and Mmyor AK Alle~' Hall. Following <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, the Invocatio~ was delivered by the <br />Reverend Wilbur Fix, Evangelical United Brethren Church ..... <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, <br />seconded by COUnC~lm,n Schlueter and <br />ea~ried, the ~Ni~utes of the Regular <br />Meeting of April 20, 196~ were <br />approved. <br /> <br /> The Mayor called for the Clerk's <br /> report of bids filed for purchase of <br /> surplus proper~y ak 1Bl~ West 3rd <br /> Street. There being none, the Mayor <br />called for oral bids, A bid of $6,000.00 subject to a ninety-day escrow was <br />received from Frank Pope, 1151 W. 17th Street. Also biddf~g were Martin Cohen, <br />519 N. Grand, and Stanley Goul~l, 1109 Ruth Circle, as follows: <br /> Cohen $6,100.00 Pope $6,500.00 <br /> Cohen 6,600.00 Pope 6,750.00 <br /> Cohen 6~ 817.~0 Pope 7,000.00 <br /> Gould 7, 070.00 Cohen 7,150. O0 <br /> <br />There being no response to three further calls for bids, the property was <br />declared' sold to Martin Cohen in the amount of $7,150.00. A written statement <br />of bid and cashier's check for $800.0~ were depesited with the Clerk. <br /> <br />CROSSING GUABD <br /> <br />adult crossing guard at Rosita School. <br /> <br />~rS. Joe W. Headlee, 1102 N. Berni <br />Street, representing a delegation of <br />parents from Rosita School, spoke <br />regarding the Immediate need for an <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by COUncilma~ Schlueter and carried, <br />that a petition presented by Mrs. Head.lee with aPprc~i~ately 569 signatures, <br />requesting an adult crossiug guard, he ~eeeived and f&led. <br /> <br />Mayor Hall outlined the school boy patrol system and suggested cooperation with <br />parents and School Board in establishing such & program ~ a long range objective. <br />The City Manager reported the City's investigation in 1962 of this location at <br />which time warrants for a guard were met. ~ <br /> <br />Mrs. Headlee stated there are not enough older boys at the school this year or <br />next to m an the pat~ols,~but the parents would be willing'towork toward that <br />objective. · <br /> <br />On motion of Counci~w~ Harvey, seconded hy Councilman Gilmore and carried, Council <br />authorized establistm~nt of an adult crossing guard, effective Immediately, for <br />the remainder of the school year,~d for next school year during which time <br />efforts will be made to establish a school boy patrol program. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />- 380 - May ~, 196~ <br /> <br /> <br />
