Roll call was anSwered by Councilmen~ Royal E. Hubbard, Harry H. Harvey, James Gilmore, Henry H. Schlueter, and Mmyor AK Alle~' Hall. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by COUnC~lm,n Schlueter and ea~ried, the ~Ni~utes of the Regular Meeting of April 20, 196~ were approved. The Mayor called for the Clerk's report of bids filed for purchase of surplus proper~y ak 1Bl~ West 3rd Street. There being none, the Mayor called for oral bids, A bid of $6,000.00 subject to a ninety-day escrow was received from Frank Pope, 1151 W. 17th Street. Also biddf~g were Martin Cohen, 519 N. Grand, and Stanley Goul~l, 1109 Ruth Circle, as follows: Cohen $6,100.00 Pope $6,500.00 Cohen 6,600.00 Pope 6,750.00 Cohen 6~ 817.~0 Pope 7,000.00 Gould 7, 070.00 Cohen 7,150. O0 There being no response to three further calls for bids, the property was declared' sold to Martin Cohen in the amount of $7,150.00. A written statement of bid and cashier's check for $800.0~ were depesited with the Clerk. CROSSING GUABD adult crossing guard at Rosita School. ~rS. Joe W. Headlee, 1102 N. Berni Street, representing a delegation of parents from Rosita School, spoke regarding the Immediate need for an It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by COUncilma~ Schlueter and carried, that a petition presented by Mrs. Head.lee with aPprc~i~ately 569 signatures, requesting an adult crossiug guard, he ~eeeived and f&led. Mayor Hall outlined the school boy patrol system and suggested cooperation with parents and School Board in establishing such & program ~ a long range objective. The City Manager reported the City's investigation in 1962 of this location at which time warrants for a guard were met. ~ Mrs. Headlee stated there are not enough older boys at the school this year or next to m an the pat~ols,~but the parents would be willing'towork toward that objective. · On motion of Counci~w~ Harvey, seconded hy Councilman Gilmore and carried, Council authorized establistm~nt of an adult crossing guard, effective Immediately, for the remainder of the school year,~d for next school year during which time efforts will be made to establish a school boy patrol program.
