RESOLUTION NO. 2002-003 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA APPROVING AN AMENDMENT'TO THE <br />LAND USE ELEMENT OF THE CITY'S GENERAL PLAN <br />CREATING TVVO NEW "MAJOR DEVELOPMENT AREAS" <br />ALONG THE SR-55 FREEWAY <br /> <br />BK: 1/8/02 <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City Council hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br /> <br />The Califomia Govemment Code requires every city to adopt a General <br />Plan. The Plan consists of several elements, one of which must be a Land <br />Use Element. <br /> <br />The City's Land Use Element currently identifies seven (7) areas of the City <br />as "Major Development Areas." They are "Main Place," "Museum District,' <br />"Downtown," "South Coast Metro," "MacArthur Place, Hutton Center," 'q'ustin <br />Avenue Corridor," and "East First Street Corridor." The first five (5) of these <br />Major Development Areas are also designated by the Land Use Element as <br />"District Centers." The Land Use Element describes the characteristics of a <br />Major Development Area. <br /> <br />The City Council is desirous of creating two (2) new Major Development <br />Areas, to b.e known as "Edinger/55 Freeway" and "Dyer/55 Freeway." <br /> <br />D <br /> <br />Following a duly noticed public hearing, on December 10, 2001 the City <br />Planning Commission recommended that the City Council amend the Land <br />Use Element to incorporate these two (2) new Major Development Areas. <br /> <br />With the .instant amendment, the elements of the City's General Plan <br />continue to comprise an integrated, internally consistent and compatible <br />statement~of policies. <br /> <br />All statements and findings contained in the Request For Council Action and <br />the record on this matter are incorporated herein by this reference as though <br />fully set forth. <br /> <br /> Section 2. <br />as follows: <br /> <br />The Land Use Element of the City's General Plan is hereby amended <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2002-003 <br /> Page 1 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
