RESOLUTION NO. 2002-033 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA TO AUTHORIZE THE CHIEF OF POLICE AND <br />THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF PARKS, RECREATION <br />AND COMMUNITY SERVICES TO EXECUTE A GRANT <br />AWARD AGREEMENT WITH ORANGE COUNTY ON <br />TRACK <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Police Department and the Parks, Recreation and <br />Community Services have received funding for the Tobacco Free <br />Communities program through Orange County On Track Organization. <br /> <br />RJ <br /> <br />The Tobacco Free Communities Program is a collaborative effort with <br />health care professionals, city officials, law enforcement, schools, faith <br />communities, media, business, and parents working together to <br />significantly reduce tobacco use and exposure to environmental tobacco <br />smoke. <br /> <br />The Orange County On Track Organization has received a County of <br />Orange Health Care Agency grant funded by the National Tobacco <br />Settlement to help create a Tobacco-Free Community in Santa Ana. <br /> <br />Eo <br /> <br />The Police Department will receive $40,000 to be used in enforcement <br />and education efforts relating to the illegal sales of tobacco to minors. <br /> <br />The Parks, Recreation and Community Services will receive $10,000 to <br />hire one Senior Program Leader to provide tobacco education and arts <br />activities at El Salvador, Jerome, and Salgado Recreation Centers. <br /> <br />Activities include creating posters; community clean ups, training staff and <br />community members about the dangers of tobacco, posting signs at <br />recreation centers, and encouraging smoke free activities. <br /> <br />Approval of the appropriation adjustment will increase revenues in the On <br />Track Program Grant Revenue Account by $50,000, and appropriating the <br />same into the On Track Program Grant expenditure account. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2002-033 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
