RESOLUTION NO. 2002-054 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA TO AUTHORIZE THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO <br />SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDING AND A <br />PROPOSED EXPENDITURE PLAN FOR THE 2002-2003 <br />SUPPLEMENTAL LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES FUND <br /> <br />bk: 6/11/02 <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. The City Council of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines and <br />declares as follows: <br /> <br />California Assembly Bill 1913 provides moneys for Supplemental Law <br />Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF). <br /> <br />Bo <br /> <br />Said fund requires that moneys be allocated to counties and cities in <br />accordance with specified requirements for front line law enforcement <br />services. <br /> <br />For the last six years year the Santa Ana Police Department has received <br />funding from the State of California through this grant program. <br /> <br />D. For Fiscal Year 2001-2002 the City received a SLESF award of <br /> $696,791.54. <br /> <br />E= <br /> <br />In compliance with the requirements of the SLESF legislation, the Police <br />Department must establish a proposed expenditure plan for the grant <br />SLESF funds, to spend these funds on front~line law enforcement, <br />including personnel and equipment for community policing. <br /> <br />F= <br /> <br />A duly noticed public hearing was held to consider this item at the <br />Council's regular meeting of June 17, 2002. The City Council considered <br />all testimony, written and omi, before rendering this decision. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and <br />empowers the Chief of Police to take all actions necessary to seek and obtain a grant of <br />2002-2003 SLESF funds, including but not limited to preparation and submittal of a <br />proposed expenditure plan to the Supplemental Law Enforcement Oversight <br />Committee. <br /> <br /> Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the <br />City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2002-054 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
