RESOLUTION NO. 2002-083 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO <br />EXECUTE A GRANT AWARD AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE <br />OF COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES <br /> <br />LSS 10/21/02 <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby, finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br /> <br />The Santa Ana Police Department has received a $462,000 MORE <br />Technology grant to purchase and implement a multi-faceted Automated <br />Booking System (ABS). <br /> <br />ABS will consist of an integrated jail management system with jail <br />reporting, finger printing and booking modules operated by civilian <br />personnel. Civilian personnel will also staff a court transportation unit, a <br />medical transportation unit and a supervision detail. <br /> <br />Eliminating the need for patrol officers, traffic officers and investigators to <br />perform these duties will allow these officers more time for expanding the <br />Department's Community Policing efforts. <br /> <br />D. The City is required to provide matching funds of $154,000. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and <br />directs The Chief of Police or his designee to execute the grant award agreement with <br />the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing <br />Services (COPS). <br /> <br /> Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby appoints the Chief of <br />Police, or his designee, as agent for the City of Santa Ana to conduct all negotiations, <br />execute and submit all documents, including but not limited to applications, agreements, <br />amendments and payment requests which may be necessary for the completion of the <br />aforementioned grant. <br /> <br /> Section 4. This ResolutiOn shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by <br />the City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br /> <br />Resolution No, 2002-083 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
