<br />stating that 700' of land~cap~ would[ be require~ with a tree every 10 feet,
<br />an~ that signwas too Bulky for 35' height. Robert Scott, 2713 Wo Pomona, urged
<br />COUncil to require the ~a-dscaping, which would form a buffer to noise and light
<br />for residences. The plan~ing Director stated that in 1960 the requirements of
<br />set-back and landscaping were ma~e to off-set signs higher than 3~ feet.

<br />C. V. Broom, P. O. Bc~ 1~0, Colton, engineer for Starer Bros., stated the
<br />resi~eaces were ~00' away; that parking woul~ be lost if landscaping required;
<br />explained that the stan~ax~l sign for the ~arkete required placement at 53'; that
<br />a six foot block wall would be placed on the south and east of the property, and
<br />that trees could Be given to neighboring property o~ners for planting. Peter
<br />Spulizzi, 2717 W. 17th, spoke in opposition.

<br />On motion of Councilman ~ub~ard, seconded by Councilm~u Harvey and carrie~,
<br />Council overrule~ the action of the Zoning A4~inistrator and instructe~ the
<br />City Attorney to prepare a resolution granting, subject to applicable conditions,
<br />the appeal to permit erection of a 5~' sign with deletion of landscaping
<br />requirement.
