PROPOSAL TO CITY OF SANT~4 A NA PAGE 22 <br />AMENDMENT TD BRIDGE RETROFIT CONTRA CT <br />SELS'MIC RETROFIT STRA TEG Y <br /> <br />Total Sheet Count 11 <br /> <br />4. INITIAL STRUCTURE PLANS <br /> <br />WKA will follow the Caltrans practice and the plans will be checked independently by a <br />registered engineer. The intent is to swap between the designers and checkers in order to <br />maintain objectivity of the independent checking process. Differences in the calculations will be <br />reconciled first before the Initial Plans will be submitted to Caltrans for review and approval. <br /> <br />WKA will prepare a final quantity takeoffbased on the standard Item List developed in <br />accordance with the Caltrans Standard Specification and SSP. Designer quantity take-offs will be <br />compared with the independent quantity takeoffs following the completion of unchecked Details <br />Plans. We will also prepare a complete set of independent quantity check calculations of all <br />structural components. The quantities will be compared with the designers quantity takeoffs, and <br />all structure bid items will be checked in accordance with Caltrans Bridge Design Aids Section <br />11 "Estimating". <br /> <br />Suggested Work Days schedules will be prepared for the individual structures, as well as for the <br />group of structures to be advertised and constructed in single phase. The Caltrans Standard <br />Specification will be the basis of the project specification. We will develop a project <br />specification based on the Caltrans Standard Special Provisions (SSP) in metric format. <br /> <br />WKA will submit the Initial Structure Plans to Caltrans and the City for review and approval. <br />This stage of the submittal will include the followings: <br /> <br />Bridge Plans and Details shown in Table 1 <br />Standard Special Provisions <br /> <br />Quantity and Initial Engineers estimates <br /> <br />5- INTERMEDIATE PS&E SUBMITTAL <br /> <br />wka will collect all the comments on the initial PS&E from the city and from Caltrans, and other <br />reviewing agencies that issue permits for construction of the bridge and the relocation of utilities. <br />We will respond the comments with written resolution letters that describes the method of <br />dispositions of all comments. Revisions to the initial PS&E submittals will be made after the <br />proposed dispositions are approved by the reviewers. The PS&E packages will be re-submitted <br />to Caltmns for final review and approval. <br /> <br />6. FINAL PS&E SUBMITTAL <br /> <br />The final approval submittal will implement the design corrections as noted in the agency's <br />review and our response comments. We will also produce our final Engineers Estimates as part <br />of the final PS&E Submittal. We will also prepare the final RE pending files in accordance with <br />Caltrans OSFP I&P Guides. <br /> <br />Page 6 of 22 <br /> <br /> <br />
